Queen of the road

We decided to go to Italy on holiday

I wanted to see Tuscany and Lenka wanted to be close to the sea. So we booked a place not far from the resort city of Viareggio in Tuscany. When I hear Tuscany I think of this:

Tuscany

And Italian food of course:

Italian Food

Supercars

I did not forget Italy’s famous automotive industry, so I was also hoping to see many of these:

Ferarri

Reality, however, is a bit different

This is the view from our window:

Apuan Alps

Queen of the road

Can you guess what car is most common here? This:

Lamborgini

Or this:

Alfa Romeo

or perhaps this?

The humble Piaggio

Piaggio

Yes, the humble Piaggio is the queen of the roads in these parts. And though it is not as impressive as the suppercars I imagined, it is much more suitable and practical here.

A typical street in the village

Farnocchia high street

Parking is never tricky…

Just like a bicycle, it is very easy to drive…

Handle bar

Maintenance is very simple:

PIaggio garage

What good is a car that can do 350 km/h on a road like this?  The truth is that most time on our way to the beach we’re stuck behind a Piaggio anyway…

Behind a Piaggio coming up to a curve

And after all, if you miss the curve and fall of the cliff…

Just get a new one!

well, you can easily get a new one….
